T’is a rough life…  :)

Sydney

P66

Actually having a lovely airport xmas morning in Sydney, while in transit to Auckland. Peter is having a blast just looking out the window where there’s aeroplanes, trucks, ground crew with funny utility vehicles… weather’s so-so, we’ll skip Bondi Beach today (no worries mates, we’ll be back to tour Australia another time! :)

(post uploaded more than a month later due to iphone idleness…)

Water workout :)

First: must recommend Koh Lanta Watersports – great gear, knowledgeable and friendly aquaholics Sam and Jo can help you with almost anything on water!

In order to find strong wind, you might have to get out of the Klong Dao bay when there’s offshore breeze:

Siasurf

(I dunno if you can see it, but further out there’s really nice wind and white capped waves – and PhiPhi Islands in the horizon, great view! :)

Spent one morning just speeding and jibing to and fro the ‘Table Mountain’, behind this yacht…

Mio-arvika

…that turned out to be S/Y Mio, from Arvika Sweden! Must have been a long way coming!

I almost never end up on photos when windsurfing (too far out) but Jo hade a great telescope!

Boasting: that’s me (on the beloved Exocet 155) in *front* of aussie Sam! Usually it’s the other way around :)

Sam-peter-sia

Always happy Samwise, and Peter-superglued-to-mum (who’s Abandoned him being out on the water all morning… rrright… :)

Jo on her motorized skateboard, admire her well balanced, relaxed laid-back style!

Henrik took a test-run. He got hooked!

And here’s a sunset for you, just because it’s a great pic!

Up and running!

Been down and under neglecting the morning jogs by various reasons (busy with kids, other activities, maladies… and just plain laziness! :) but now back on track. Spent an early hour running all the way to the other side of the beach, powered up with some great music (not drowning out the sound of waves in the background… :) and then up the small ‘Table Mountain’ on the cap, locating the secluded JamesBond-style secret cove I’ve seen from the sea-side when windsurfing. Then stretch, swim and now Peter is asleep next to me, cutie-pie :)

Pros and cons!

P75

Pros: kids are fine, Farmor Eva is here another week, great wind, had good windsurfing earlier this week, we all went diving/snorkling Wednesday on a daytrip to wonderful isles Koh Rok. A nice doctor has grounded me today, informing Henrik that I should not do a thing just lying down with full service (no I didn’t bribe the doc) – and right now Dave is keeping me company, playing Minecraft on the computer next to me! The others are chilling, having after-school in the pool!

Cons: Dave is occupying the computer so I have to write this at low speed on the iPad, reason for my lying-low is an infected legwound the nearby SIAM clinic took care of yesterday and now they were not happy with the progress and told me to rest and be still and it’s boooring and I know there’s wind out there today and I must avoid aqactivities for days and days…

Another Con (artist): I know what you’re thinking, we’re travelling weird places and surely some street vendor… But no, someone back in Good’Ol’Sweden has managed to make a bunch of (expensive) taxitrips using one earlier lost and already maculated credit card, after we left! A good thing it was easy to prove it wasn’t us (not even being in the country :) and should be no prob getting reimbursed. But a bit scary anyway. Am glad I spotted that when logging in to the bank today.

More Pros? Eva made pancakes yesterday, and today she&Henrik found some chicken for dinner! Since I’m not in restaurant mode I really
      appreci-ate that!
           (pun intended)
And I got some great books to read, not to mention all emails n’stuff I should handle… zzz… and puttin up some more pics on da blog… coming soon to a Posterous Space Near You!

Thanks for reading and be well!

cheers
/sia

Quick update on everyday life in Thailand

Img_0414

Morning run on the beach, picking up some glass garbage and nice shells in the sand, swimming in the pool, youghurt brekkie. Henrik’s away with the kids in the tuk except Peter – who’s now emptying a drawer? Creative guy…

Spontaneous morning stroll with surprises!

The Plan was to go to the maritime museum nearby. What really happened was that first, we saw (from our all-seeing window) the huge parking space on the way being filled with fancy show cars, so of course we had a look there first. Some cars looked like they were lying on the ground, others were filled with amplifiers, some had manga figures painted on!

Outside the maritime museum (which btw is a funny building, looks like a big ship) there was some kind of Firefighters Day, with lots of firetrucks, an ambulance-firetruck, police cars, earthquake-testhouse… Dave&Jenny went ‘flying’ in a sky lift, with Henrik in another one. After visiting the great tall ship “Nippon Maru” we came just in time to see a dozen fire-rescue-boats defiling by, accompanied by some jet skis, quite a show!

On the way back we realized that the maritime museum (which kind looked dark and we thought ~wrong entrance?) was actually closed for renovation. Which didn’t matter at all since we already spent >2 hours just hanging around outside :)

Had lunch at the carshow place on the way back. Not as crazy as the pirate-Jack-Sparrow-style-restaurant we stumbled on yesterday, but a funny yet warm feeling of carbuilder-weirdo-camaraderie in the air!

Girlie Heaven part2

P154

Window shopping with Jenny & Emma.
