At Marahau near Abel Tasman national park we rendezvouz’d with Tom and Mary Poppendieck and parts of their extended family, and a spent a few days together at their rented cabin. They had been travelling the south island while we had been travelling the north, so it was nice to meet up and trade notes!
One day we took a speed boat out to a beautiful bay…
… hung out on the beach …
… took a short hike …
… explored jelly fish and crabs and other interesting stuff that shows up at low tide (we did a “low tide hike” which means you can only do it a low tide, and you get your feet wet)…
… had a nice dinner together on cabin lawn (except for the darned sandflies)…
… and even had some wine (unusual for me) and played some guitar (not quite so unusual).
All in all a very nice way to spend a day with friends! :)
